“Religious Freedom: What it Is – and What it Is Not”

September 26, 2021 GlenAnderson 0

The October 2021 episode of “Glen’s Parallax Perspectives” provides fresh information and insights into some controversies that have confused and misled many Americans about many matters, including our human rights and how our government functions. In a free society, people need to get along with each other – including people whose beliefs differ from each other – and we must protect fairness for all people.  This includes the relationships between religious beliefs and governments. During this interview an expert clarifies what religious freedom IS and what it is NOT.  We clear up confusion about the centuries-old American principle of “the […]

Government-sponsored prayers

September 9, 2021 GlenAnderson 0

Some governmental bodies (legislatures, local governments, etc.) begin with official prayers. Often those are required by conservative politicians. Those conservatives typically oppose “Big Government.” Ironically, they want “Big Government” to force us to pray in certain ways. Not only does that blatantly contradict their opposition to “Big Government” oppressing us, but it also blatantly undermines legitimate religion.   Prayer should be personal and truly spiritual, but when “Big Government” imposes any prayer upon us, prayer is perverted and trivialized into just a meaningless ritual — a contemptible abuse by “Big Government.” Jesus told people to pray privately instead of in […]

We must declare a climate emergency. Some people already have declared one. More entities must do so.

July 3, 2021 GlenAnderson 0

The first few items here were posted on July 2, 2021, in my blog post saying we really are experiencing a climate emergency, so we should declare that.  The remaining items are declarations by various entities and statements urging other entities to declare a climate emergency:   In 2020 the United Nations urged world leaders to DECLARE A CLIMATE EMERGENCY: https://www.ecowatch.com/virtual-climate-summit-2020-2649465278.html?mc_cid=d65edea624&mc_eid=58bffd4d51   In 2019 Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (AOC) urged declaring a climate emergency: https://grist.org/article/bernie-sanders-and-aoc-want-to-declare-a-climate-emergency-does-that-mean-anything/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=newsletter&utm_campaign=daily AND: https://www.ecowatch.com/aoc-sanders-emergency-resolution-2639138944.html?utm_source=EcoWatch+List&utm_campaign=7aa6bb0ac0-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_49c7d43dc9-7aa6bb0ac0-85369701   In 2019 Pope Francis declared a Climate Emergency in a meeting with Big Oil leaders: https://www.ecowatch.com/pope-francis-declares-climate-emergency-2638888796.html?utm_source=EcoWatch+List&utm_campaign=40b456dbde-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_49c7d43dc9-40b456dbde-85369701 AND: https://www.ecowatch.com/pope-francis-declares-climate-emergency-2638888796.html?rebelltitem=3#rebelltitem3 […]

Empowering the Progressive Movement: Watch Glen’s video. Read transcript and more resources.

June 27, 2021 GlenAnderson 0

The July 2021 interview on “Glen’s Parallax Perspectives” TV series helps you and other people make more progress when we work on issues you care about. Many of the issues we care about are HUGE issues in which WE are the UNDERDOGS.  Powerful forces created the unjust status quo — and powerful forces sustain the injustices we are trying to eliminate. Because we are the underdogs in these big issues, we need to empower ourselves and bring many people together so we can organize large nonviolent grassroots movements to solve the problems and create peaceful and just societies at the […]

Local governments can oppose nuclear weapons!

March 25, 2021 GlenAnderson 0

It is common for the public — and elected officials and the media — to think about nuclear weapons as a national or international issue FAR REMOVED from YOUR local community.  But actually, if a nuclear war occurs (whether intentionally or by accident, miscalculation or computer error), YOUR LOCAL COMMUNITY will be destroyed and LOCAL PEOPLE will be killed.  Therefore, NUCLEAR WEAPONS REALLY ARE A LOCAL ISSUE, so ordinary people and local governments must oppose nuclear weapons! To see what a nuclear weapon would do to YOUR local community, enter your zip code into this link:  And yes, it could […]

How to talk effectively about defunding the police

January 19, 2021 GlenAnderson 0

Many people recognize the long-standing problems of police using excessive violence — and treating racial and ethnic minorities unjustly.  Efforts to improve training and to adopt “reforms” have not significantly solved the problems.  Now many people are urging local governments to cut the budgets of police departments and use the savings to fund more effective nonviolent ways to provide public safety. These efforts make good sense, but some of the talk about “defunding” the police causes some members of the public to feel afraid for their safety and to push back against these changes.  We can be more effective if […]
