This is a HUGE surprise of GOOD NEWS from the Oak Ridge Environmental Peace Alliance (OREPA)! For many years I have been reading OREPA’s newsletters and financially supporting their non-profit org in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. They have been opposing a major expansion of the nearby nuclear weapons manufacturing plant. The federal government’s plans for the plant were horribly reckless in many, many ways (including serious seismic dangers, which would be bad for a nuclear weapons manufacturing plant) – and horribly expensive. Extreme racial bias and the death penalty: North Carolina’s experience

A landmark case exposes rampant racial bias in the death penalty. Several years ago, North Carolina briefly had the “Racial Justice Act” as part of its law. It would explicitly allow defendants to argue racial bias in their cases in ways that had not been allowed before — and were not allowed in other state.
