Economic Justice — A Bold New Agenda — Watch video and read summary & more info

Previously I posted the link to watch the video of this interview.  Now I have typed up a very thorough summary of what we said — and added links to much additional information — and posted that to this blog.  SEE IT BELOW.

The May 2021 interview on “Glen’s Parallax Perspectives” TV series helps you understand the U.S.’s long-standing economic problems – and the bold solutions that would make the economy more fair for ordinary people.

Two guests explored the problems and solutions:

Bartlett Naylor works for Public Citizen, the amazingly savvy non-profit organization founded by Ralph Nader half a century ago. Bartlett Naylor is a Financial Policy Advocate who works on corporate governance, financial markets, and related issues.

Sarah Anderson works for the Institute for Policy Studies, a very knowledgeable non-profit organization that works on a variety of issues. She is a Program Director who works on the global economy, financial regulations, economic inequality, tax reform, workers’ rights, and related issues.

We discussed the horribly widening gaps in INCOME inequality and in WEALTH inequality.  We shared information about the excessive pay that top-level corporate executives receive — and how the “Tax Excessive CEO Pay Act” could remedy those excesses.  We discussed the 2008 economic crash’s causes and how the U.S. should have provided better remedies.  We discussed economic distortions of “the fossil fuel economy” and “the financialization” of the economy.  We discussed the need to raise the minimum wage and to fix our tax system in progressive directions.  We also promoted the two excellent non-profit organizations that our guests represent.

Thurston County’s people with cable TV can watch it 13 times throughout May 2021 on channel 22 (every Monday at 1:30 pm, every Wednesday at 5:00 pm, and every Thursday at 9:00 pm).
