The U.S. became angry at Venezuela when that nation elected Hugo Chavez, who refused to be subservient to the U.S. and U.S.-based businesses. The U.S. retaliated against Venezuela in a number of ways. Venezuela’s voters persist in looking out for their own best interests instead of becoming puppets of U.S. political and economic elites.
