President Biden seems likely to proceed with the horribly expensive and horribly dangerous replacement of ALL nuclear warheads and delivery systems (land-based missiles, submarines, airplanes). The article linked here discusses some of that, especially the replacement for the Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs) with a new $100 billion Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD), a land-based nuclear missile, which is slated to replace the aging Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM).
Tell Congress to STOP funding and PREVENT approval of the nuclear weapons mentioned above.
The information in the links below alerts people to the dangerous, expensive new nuclear missiles to replace the traditional land-based Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs) that can be launched from silos. Many are located in the U.S. central and north central states. The federal government wants to replace them with a whole new series called “Ground-Based Strategic Deterrent” (GBSD). We must stop that!
Opposition is growing in Congress to the proposal, in the Trump nuclear modernization plan, for a new generation of nuclear Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs). These new missiles would actually increase the danger of nuclear war by accident: several factors, including the vulnerability of fixed silo missiles, and the resulting pressure to “use them of lose them” in response to a threat, could lead to a launch in response to a false alarm.
But the Air Force and defense contractors are lobbying intensely for the new missiles, and the outcome is still in doubt. Now Senator Markey (D-MA) and Rep. Khanna (D-CA) have introduced a bill to cancel the funding for the new ICBMs, and transfer the money to support vaccine research against corona virus variants and other pandemic threats.
Tell your Senators (preferably in your own words): We shouldn’t spend hundreds of billions on new missiles which would actually increase the risk of war. Please co-sponsor and support Senator Markey’s Invest in Cures Before Missiles Act.
