The Olympia Fellowship of Reconciliation’s TV program for July 2016 explores a powerful regional tradition organized by our region’s Native American and First Nation tribes. In the saltwater areas and shorelines throughout Western Washington and SW British Columbia, special sum-mertime events have been happening since 1993 – after an earlier “Paddle to Seattle” in 1989. Tribal members paddle traditional dugout canoes from throughout our region and converge at the location of a different tribal host each year. The Olympia Fellowship of Reconciliation’s February 2017 TV program focuses on the criminal justice system – and especially the death penalty – from the first-hand experience of someone who has lived his entire life right here in Washington State. Dawud al-Malik was completely innocent of the crimes for which he was prosecuted and imprisoned for more than 49 years, including some years on death row.
