The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons goes into effect on FRIDAY JANUARY 22. Huge international support exists — especially throughout the global South. None of the nine nations with nuclear weapons supported this treaty when the United Nations General Assembly adopted it overwhelmingly (122 nations!) in July 2017.
