U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar Has a Plan to Revolutionize U.S. Foreign Policy

Ever since the 1940s, the U.S.’s foreign policy has been overwhelmingly bi-partisan.  Regardless of which party is running the Executive Branch or the Congress, the U.S. has promoted a U.S. empire that has dominated much of the world politically, economically and militarily.

Dick Cheney’s horribly stupid and cruel Endless War on Terrorism persisted through 8 years of George W. Bush’s presidency — and through 8 more years of Obama.  Obama actually ESCALATED some aspects of the Bush-Cheney abuses!  Obama escalated the drone wars, deployed military “Special Forces” to parts of Africa, radically increased the deportation of Latin American immigrants, and abused journalists and whistleblowers by prosecuting more people under the brutal 1917 Espionage Act than ALL previous presidents COMBINED since 1917.

Overall, Democrats have been nearly as horrible as Republicans in matters related to foreign policy, “national security,” etc.

Now — finally — we have a smart, wise, compassionate member of the U.S. House of Representatives who proposes a smart, wise, compassionate plan to revolutionize U.S. foreign policy.  Ilhan Omar is a Somalian Muslim refugee who immigrated to the U.S. and earned her election to Congress.

Also, The Progressive Magazine (www.progressive.org) published John Nichols’ article titled “Ilhan Omar and the Politics of ‘Radical Love’ in their issue for December 2019 and January 2020.  I recommend this highly!
