Oppose Trump’s disruption and coup against Venezuela’s democracy.

In early May 2019 Trump is still pushing for a coup against Venezuela’s democracy.

He and his top foreign policy appointees have explicitly said they want the oil of this oil-rich nation.

On May 6, 2019, World Beyond War (www.worldbeyondwar.org) sent this information:

The United States is openly violating the U.N. Charter by threatening war on Venezuela. Read the latest report from activists who are protecting the Venezuelan Embassy in Washington. If you’re in the U.S. email Congress.

I urge people to watch this very short video (only 1 minute, 14 seconds) from World Beyond War, calling upon people to work to abolish war:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RozTuLkqvps&feature=youtu.be&link_id=1&can_id=1d662460c0abb8939c5044c82927552b&source=email-wbw-news-action-uniting-against-war&email_referrer=email_541879&email_subject=wbw-news-action-uniting-against-war

I encourage people to sign up to receive their occasional e-mails.

Another great peace organization, Peace Action (www.peaceaction.org) sent information on May 2, 2019, including a petition to Congress organized by a good number of organizations.

Sign the petition at this link:  https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/sign-the-petition-no-military-force-in-venezuela?source=2019NoMilitaryVenezuela_PA&referrer=group-peace-action-2

Peace Action’s May 2, 2019, e-mail included information, which I’m summarizing here, along with my own information and comments.  For more information, look in my blog’s “Latin America” category:  http://parallaxperspectives.org/category/international-affairs-see-foreign-policy-and-specific-nations-and-regions/latin-america

In late April 2019 the Trump-backed Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó launched what appeared to be an attempted coup.  Guadió was hoping enough military leaders would defect, toppling the government of Venezuela’s legitimately elected president Nicolás Maduro.  The Trump regime has been pushing for the coup for months, as I reported in my blog’s “Latin America” category.

Peace Action’s e-mail stated:  “The Trump administration has no constitutional authority for a military intervention, but we need to make sure that’s underlined and bolded. It’s up to us to ramp up the pressure on Congress to pass the Prohibiting Unauthorized Military Action in Venezuela Act to block the administration from starting an unauthorized war.”
