New records show Trump’s DOJ rushed a no-bid contract for lethal injection drugs

After many years with no federal executions, Trump and his Attorney General William Barr have been hell-bent to execute people.  They executed eight persons since bringing back the federal death penalty in July, and they feel such an extreme emergency to execute even more that they are entering into a “no-bid” contract with the deadly chemical’s manufacturer so they can proceed with executing five more persons before Biden takes office.

The Trump regime claims an “urgent and compelling need” for the death-causing chemical in order to prevent the federal Bureau of Prisons from suffering if it had to go through the usual process of seeking competitive bids.  The article I’ve linked below says this:

To justify its departure from the standard procurement process, BOP invoked a legal exception that only applies “when the agency’s need for the supplies or services is of such an unusual and compelling urgency that the Government would be seriously injured” if it wasn’t allowed to limit the number of contract bids.
