Articles + videos: Greta Thunberg, Swedish teenager, speaks boldly to world leaders about climate crisis

An amazing 16-year-old from Sweden has spoken many times to groups of powerful leaders in many countries, including international gatherings.  Greta Thunberg has impressed people with her bold critique of the problems that led to the climate crisis — and her bold critique of powerful people and bodies that fail to take necessary actions.

Her speeches have been videotaped and can be watched.  Some copies of her texts are also available.  Here are some links.

Greta Thunberg continues speaking boldly to world leaders. In April 2019 she spoke to some members of the UK’s House of Commons. The text of her speech is at this link: That article includes a video link for only a very, very short part of her speech. Reading her full text is powerful.  The links came from The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists:

Also in April 2019 Greta Thunberg, who is only 16 years old, said her future was sold.  Greta Thunberg – Our future was sold:

She also urged a general strike as the only way to really get the attention of the people who have the official power to rescue us from the climate crisis:

In March 2019 she spoke in Berlin:

Greta Thunberg was a leader in organizing the student strike in March 2019 in 123 nations and about 100 cities in the U.S.  One day in the summer before that (in 2018), when Greta Thunberg was 15, she skipped school, sat down outside the Swedish parliament – and inadvertently kicked off a global movement  See this article:

Besides her, another young woman, Severn Cullis-Suzuki, has also been telling her bold message to powerful people.  Here are some links:

Severn Cullis-Suzuki at Rio Summit in 1992:

Severn Cullis-Suzuki at Rio+20 2012, 20 years after her first speech, which brought her to fame, she returned to speak :

Greta Thunberg full speech at UN Climate Change COP24 Conference in Poland 2018:

SHORT VIDEO: In 1992 — years before Greta Thunberg was born — a 12-year-old girl, Severn Cullis-Suzuki, spoke to the 1992 U.N. global environmental summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  Severn Cullis-Suzuki’s bold message is similar to Greta Thunberg’s, but she delivered her speech in 1992 – a full decade before Greta was born.  Watch her powerful short video:

Greta Thunberg’s powerful and compelling 11-minute speech demands strong action now to protect the climate.  I strongly encourage watching it:

On January 25, 2019, 16 year-old Swedish Greta Thunberg spoke her VERY STRONG message to Davos elites about the climate crisis.

She told them to act as if our house is on fire – because it is.  She also said: “Either we choose to go on as a civilization or we don’t. That is as black or white as it gets. There are no grey areas when it comes to survival.”  And she said: “Adults keep saying: ‘We owe it to the young people to give them hope.’ But I don’t want your hope. I don’t want you to be hopeful. I want you to panic. I want you to feel the fear I feel every day. And then I want you to act.”

Here (only very slightly edited) is her statement to the attendees at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Friday, January 25, 2019.  She told them directly to their faces that they are at fault for the climate crisis:

Here is a 3-minute video of Greta Thunberg’s speech at U.N. Climate Change COP 24 Conference — plus more information.  She speaks BOLDLY and WISELY. She articulately lambastes the rich, powerful people who are utterly failing to protect her generation from climate disruption.

This video is shorter than 2 minutes.  Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old Swedish teenager who made a bold short video recently has made another one. In less than 2 minutes she calls upon the global elites gathered in Davos, Switzerland – and elites elsewhere – to do “whatever it takes” to limit global warming to less than 1.5 degrees Celsius. Her video is at the link below.  Also, note the impeccable English vocabulary and pronunciation this Swede speaks. How many American 16-year-olds are that fluent in a language of other countries. This lack of internationalism is part of the U.S.’s incompetence in dealing effectively with the world around us.

Here is the video:
