The Olympia Coalition to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (OCANW) is planning now to urge local governments to support the “Back from the Brink” proposal. That proposal rolls together FIVE PARTS into one smart package that would significantly reduce the likelihood of nuclear war. See information about it at www.preventnuclearwar.org
That website’s home page includes a tab for RESOURCES that can help people at local levels organize to convince their local governments to pass resolutions supporting the package of “Back from the Brink” proposals.

There is a long, successful history of pushing local governments to pass resolutions supporting peace. For example, Tim Russell, an active member of OCANW, convinced the Olympia City Council in August 2018 to UNANIMOUSLY pass a resolution opposing nuclear weapons. OCANW achieved this local victory sooner than we had expected. See the wording here: http://parallaxperspectives.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/M-1963.pdf
