The Constitution’s 25th Amendment creates a way for high-ranking federal officials to remove a president who is physically or mentally unfit to serve, but this article and the video do not address it. Thom Hartmann’s video (at the link below) says the mental illness problem is Trump. Actually, a great many psychologists and psychiatrists have publicly stated that Trump is seriously mentally ill. Trump’s mental illness has caused a huge number of very serious domestic and international problems. We must pursue the 25th Amendment in addition to working for impeachment.

Trump is the “bully-in-chief.” Experts say Trump’s ‘antisocial personality disorder’ fits a pattern. I have read a number of articles in which experts in psychology and psychiatry explain Trumps mental illness. This article does a good job and points out some interesting political aspects. While mental illness is not an impeachable offense, the 25th Amendment is a remedy. I am interested in that too, but that’s a long shot because the leadership for using that remedy would have to come from people close to Trump.

Instead, the article really deals with the responsibility of mental health professionals to alert the public when a president has serious mental health issues. This pertains to the controversy within the mental health profession. This issue should lead to a 25th Amendment effort.

This news of the 25th Amendment was reported by The Young Turks in February 2019. They reported this “explosive admission: Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew G. McCabe says that top Justice Department officials discussed whether to enlist cabinet members to oust President Trump under the Constitution’s 25th Amendment after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, The New York Times reports. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/14/us/politics/mccabe-trump.html
“The concerns about the president’s actions also prompted Mr. McCabe to order the bureau’s team investigating Russia’s election interference to expand their scope to also investigate whether Mr. Trump had obstructed justice by firing Mr. Comey. They also were to examine if he had been working on behalf of Russia against American interests.”
McCabe revealed the actions in an interview on CBS’ “60 Minutes” that is slated to air on Sunday February 17, 2019. McCabe is making the rounds to promote his new book, “The Threat: How the F.B.I. Protects America in the Age of Terror and Trump,” the Times reports.
“I was very concerned that I was able to put the Russia case on absolutely solid ground, in an indelible fashion,” McCabe says. “That were I removed quickly, or reassigned or fired, that the case could not be closed or vanish in the night without a trace.” Trump attacked McCabe and his wife via Twitter on February 14.
