Trump’s FBI, etc., go after blacks, Muslims, etc., but largely ignore white nationalists and right-wing terrorists

August 21, 2019 GlenAnderson 0

The term “terrorist” has been slanted to make people think of Muslims. The term “gang” has been slanted to make people think of Blacks or Latinos. But actually, nearly all of the mass shooters have been white, and many of them have been RIGHT-WING EXTREMISTS (some quoting Trump’s rhetoric) who targeted the groups that the Trump regime and other propagandists have been pressuring the public to fear and hate (LGBTQ folks, Muslims, Jews, etc.), along with random people. If we want to stop the epidemic of mass shootings — and hate crimes — we must look at who is committing […]

Candidates Must Commit to Immediate US Withdrawal From Afghanistan

August 20, 2019 GlenAnderson 0

This article’s lead paragraph reports this: On July 30, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan reported that the Afghan government and international military forces, primarily the United States, caused most of the civilian deaths in Afghanistan during the first six months of 2019. That’s more killings than those perpetrated in the same time period by the Taliban and ISIS combined. https://truthout.org/articles/candidates-must-commit-to-immediate-us-withdrawal-from-afghanistan/?eType=EmailBlastContent&eId=84b92979-bb4e-43d9-975d-6146d244cab9

Replace the “national security” scheme with “TRUE Security.”

June 4, 2019 GlenAnderson 0

The U.S. is obsessed with “national security” and wastes about half of our discretionary budget on militarism, nuclear weapons, covert actions, and violence around the world. This obsession and waste cause much neglect and suffering within the U.S. as well as abuse and endless wars and suffering around the world. We must replace the wasteful, ineffective, and downright counterproductive “national security” scheme with a fresh approach:  “TRUE Security.” See this: TRUE Security TABLE.doc

How We Got into Our Current Crisis

May 24, 2019 GlenAnderson 0

I wrote an insightful article in 2017, and it is still valid, so I updated it only a little and posted it here. I’ll write another proposing remedies for how to get out of this crisis.  Look for that within the next few weeks. How We Got into Our Current Crisis

U.S.’s “regime change” efforts have been disastrous.

April 26, 2019 GlenAnderson 0

The U.S. has OVERTHROWN many governments — including many democracies. Sometimes the U.S. claims we are protecting “human rights” or restoring “democracy.” But the truth is almost always the opposite. See examples at the “Peace” and “International Affairs” parts of this blog, www.parallaxperspectives.org   An April 22, 2019, article on www.commondreams.org exposed the U.S.’s horrible track record in the context of the Trump regime’s attempt to overthrow Venezuela’s elected president.  READ THE ARTICLE AT THIS LINK. In the article see this photo of a poster attached to Venezuela’s embassy in Washington DC:

The Southern Poverty Law Center identified 28 hate groups in Washington State

April 13, 2019 GlenAnderson 0

People who live in Washington State tend to think we are more enlightened than the rest of the nation.  But the Southern Poverty Law Center (www.splcentner.org) has identified 28 hate groups in Washington State. Sure, some might be small.  But they can be dangerous.  Decent people need to figure out various ways to make our local communities more welcoming and to discourage the kind of mean-spiritedness, bias, etc., that can cause some people to join up with hate groups. Here is the SPLC’s article: https://www.splcenter.org/states/washington

17 Years, 41 Military Operations, 19 Countries. It’s Time to Repeal the 2001 AUMF

March 26, 2019 GlenAnderson 0

The people who founded the U.S. knew that Europe’s top leaders kept starting wars that hurt their nation, so when they wrote the U.S. Constitution they specified that the president could NOT unilaterally start a war.  A war could start ONLY IF Congress EXPLICITLY DECLARED war. After the 9-11-2001 attacks, the Bush-Cheney regime steamrollered many bad things through Congress (including the PATRIOT Act).  They also pushed Congress into ABDICATING ITS CONSTITUTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY to make decisions about going to war.  Congress passed the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) law, which UNCONSTITUTIONALLY empowered the President to start any wars he […]

This new, insightful article explains REALLY WHY George W. Bush started his 2003 Iraq war.

March 26, 2019 GlenAnderson 0

Soon after George W. Bush attacked Iraq in March 2003 he landed on an aircraft carrier and spoke of his triumph in front of a huge banner that proclaimed ”Mission Accomplished.” That war actually dragged on for many years, and the U.S.’s bi-partisan war against Iraq and “war against terror” actually provoked terrorism throughout the region and in many other parts of the world.  W’s war was no victory at all! Instead of the “shock and awe” against Iraq creating a decisive, powerful victory for the U.S., the long, bogged-down chaos actually showed how weak and ineffectual the U.S. is. […]

Sign this to urge 2020 presidential candidates to call for a PEACEFUL FOREIGN POLICY

January 5, 2019 GlenAnderson 0

Candidates keep pretending that domestic issues are all that matters. We must strongly urge candidates to prioritize PEACE in their campaign platforms.  This is especially true for PRESIDENTIAL candidates! The organization sponsoring this petition (www.winwithoutwar.org) is an excellent advocate for peace. I signed this petition to raise the peace issue in the presidential campaign, and I hope you will sign it too: https://act.winwithoutwar.org/act/open-letter-2020-foreign-policy?source=em20190103&t=5&akid=3059%2E372126%2EuSCGG8

Our systems are not “broken.” They’re working as intended. They are DELIBERATELY UNFAIR.

January 3, 2019 GlenAnderson 0

People keep saying that our nation’s systems are “broken.”  That is misleading.  They are NOT “broken.”  They are WORKING AS INTENDED!  They are DELIBERATELY UNFAIR! On issue after issue, politicians, mainstream media, and the general public keep saying that our systems are “broken.”  But if you look at how they are actually functioning — WHAT THEY ACTUALLY DO — and WHAT THEY ARE PREVENTING — and WHO HAS THE POWER and WHO BENEFITS from the status quo — you’ll see that these systems are NOT really “broken.”  They are serving the rich and the powerful and preventing the changes that […]

Substitute PEACE instead of our militaristic foreign policy

December 4, 2018 GlenAnderson 0

The U.S.’s militaristic foreign policy does NOT work. It makes problems worse and causes more problems. It wastes money. The document linked here explains why we should replace our militaristic foreign policy with a commitment to peace, human rights, and other good things. Notes for Substituting Peace Instead of the U.S.’s Militaristic Foreign Policy Near the end of that document I explain the reasons why we should replace the U.S.’s militaristic “National Security” model with a NONVIOLENT model of “TRUE Security.”  For a one-page summary distinguishing these two models, see this link: “TRUE Security TABLE”           […]

PART 2 of “Choose a Better Worldview to Build a Better World”

November 30, 2018 GlenAnderson 0

Our nation and world are in a horrible mess.  The December 2018 episode of “Glen’s Parallax Perspectives” TV series examines how to solve the problems. A person or an entire society has a “worldview” — a way of seeing reality — that strongly directs their behavior and public policy.  The worldview that currently dominates the U.S. government and society has caused escalating greed, corruption, cruelty, oppression, war, and other bad things.  Instead, we need to replace that worldview with its opposite — a worldview that is humane, compassionate, peaceful, fair to everyone, and environmentally sustainable. An unjust society seeks to […]
