Joan Baez said this: “What Gandhi said was, ‘Let’s take this extraordinary idea and organize it.’ It hadn’t been organized on a massive scale before. He proved that a moral argument is really enough. In fact, only when people are morally steeped in nonviolence to their own satisfaction—that what they believe is correct, when that’s what they’ll do until death—that’s really the only time nonviolence holds. As a tactic, nonviolence will wear out if you don’t really have a moral and spiritual foundation to it.”

New study shows ANY use of nuclear weapons would hurt environment, climate, health

Pelosi and House Democrats are TOO TIMID about impeaching Trump!

For 2 1/2 years House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other powerful Democrats have refused to impeach Trump, despite his MANY, MANY violations of the Constitution and MANY, MANY violations of federal law. Grassroots organizing is all about bringing people together to set goals, devise strategies, and plan strategically smart activities to accomplish those goals.  Our interactions with other people are crucial to our success! But nowadays many people think electronic communications (e-mails, Facebook, etc.) can suffice.  They can NOT take the place of connecting face-to-face with other people and building trusting relationships. We need PROFOUND DEMOCRACY in many ways.  Certainly in our political functioning, but also we need our ECONOMICS to be profoundly democratic.  We can replace capitalistic businesses with publicly owned alternatives that will serve the people as their top priority instead of exploiting people in order to serve rich stockholders. Many “public-private partnerships are neoliberal scams that widen economic inequality.

Social problems are “monetized” by using public funding to let big businesses pretend to solve problems, but really the big businesses get rich at public expense – without actually solving the problems.
