Nuclear power is horribly expensive and doomed to fail. See new info here.

September 25, 2021 GlenAnderson 0

Here is an appallingly stupid example I had not heard of before. It is yet one more compelling piece of evidence that nuclear power is NOT a “low-carbon” alternative to fossil fuels.  Nuclear power is horribly expensive and NOT cost-effective. The article includes much more information that I had not previously known. I encourage people to read this article and share it with people who need to know the hard realities. https://www.counterpunch.org/2021/09/24/the-record-breaking-failures-of-nuclear-power/

September 9, 2021 GlenAnderson 0

After I produced this TV program and posted it to my blog, my e-mail address changed from glenanderson@integra.net to glen@parallaxperspectives.org.  When you watch the TV video and/or read the linked document, please use my new e-mail address (and/or phone me at 360-491-9093) if you have any questions or want more information.   The article with the headline and the link below said this part-way through the article, because Biden’s Trumpian stupidity was not the article’s main point.  The article said Biden urged OPEC to DRILL MORE OIL because he was worried that a reduced supply of oil would increase oil […]

In the 1940s my Dad built a SOLAR clothes dryer. Mom operated it for decades.

September 9, 2021 GlenAnderson 0

In the 1950s when I was growing up, I remember at home we had a SOLAR and WIND clothes dryer.  It used no fossil fuels and no electricity. Dad built it in the 1940s.  Mom operated it for decades. It was called a “clothesline.”  Every home’s back yard had one.  It was an upright metal pole with a smaller horizontal metal crossbar at the top.  30 to 40 feet away was another one with the same design.  Stretched between them were four long metal wires that constituted the clothesline. People would wash clothes, sheets, towels, etc., in the house and […]

Watch and/or read TV: “Debunk the Fossil Fuel Industry’s Phony Climate Remedies”

August 28, 2021 GlenAnderson 0

The September 2021 interview on “Glen’s Parallax Perspectives” provides fresh information and insights into some aspects of the climate crisis that most people do not adequately understand.  Our expert guest, Jim Walsh, explained some problems and some scams that the fossil fuel companies want to fool us into accepting.  Before we ended our interview, Jim proposed some real solutions. For decades the big businesses that sell oil, natural gas and coal have been denying that they were causing the climate crisis.  The scientific proof is so overwhelming that they can’t be “climate deniers” any longer, so recently the fossil fuel […]

Myanmar’s coup — much info before and after — and insights into other issues

June 13, 2021 GlenAnderson 0

On February 1, 2021, the military of Myanmar (previously known as Burma) overthrew democracy and installed an extremely brutal military dictatorship.  The population has been protesting against that, so the military has been using extreme violence to suppress the resistance.  Most of the public’s resistance has been nonviolent, but — out of frustration — some people have been resorting to violence. Of course, this nation had been colonized by a European nation, so that background plays into the current crisis.  The nation exists in the context of other nations in that region.  Mainstream news media in the U.S. have been […]

May 27, 2021 GlenAnderson 0

Besides reading the article linked shortly below here, also see my further examples below that link: The PR industry aims to demobilize environmental movements — here’s what organizers can do about it Public relations poses distinct threats to environmental movements, but activists are becoming more savvy and developing new forms of resistance. https://www.nationofchange.org/2021/04/22/the-pr-industry-aims-to-demobilize-environmental-movements-heres-what-organizers-can-do-about-it/ More information: Decades ago – when the beverage industry wanted to replace refillable bottles (for soda pop, beer, milk, etc.) with disposable containers – the beverage industry DECEIVED THE PUBLIC by shifting responsibility for the waste problem onto the public.  While the beverage industry VASTLY INCREASED disposable […]

May 27, 2021 GlenAnderson 0

An Online Course on War and The Environment: Spreading Knowledge Builds Power   This course could not be more important. A culture of extraction and destruction is closely tied to a culture of war. A landmark court decision hurts Big Oil because Big Oil has failed to deal with the climate crisis.

May 27, 2021 GlenAnderson 0

A court decision in the Netherlands is a huge landmark. See these links to FOUR articles.   A judge holds Shell liable for causing climate change in historic vote: The Dutch ruling is being called a first of its kind and a big “step forward for the international climate movement.” See this short — but important — article by Ashley Curtin dated May 27, 2021: https://www.nationofchange.org/2021/05/27/a-judge-holds-shell-liable-for-causing-climate-change-in-historic-vote/ This article pertains to the Dutch court decision about Shell: The pathway to critical and formidable goal of net-zero emissions by 2050 is narrow but brings huge benefits, according to a special report by […]

May 26, 2021 GlenAnderson 0

The June 2021 interview on “Glen’s Parallax Perspectives” TV series helps you understand the problems in U.S. foreign policy and some bold ways to solve those problems and support peace and justice worldwide. Two guests explored the problems and solutions: John Feffer is a Project Director working on a variety of foreign policy issues at the Institute for Policy Studies, an exceptionally savvy non-profit organization based in Washington DC. Their website is ips-dc.org.  I enjoyed reading his writings for a long time, even before I recruited him to be a guest for this interview. Metta Spencer is a retired professor […]
