In late 2018 people started talking about the basic ideas that were developed into the February 2019 federal legislation for a Green New Deal — a fairly comprehensive framework that would promote: Bold actions to protect the environment and climate New “green” jobs with good wages Improvements for local communities, housing, infrastructure, etc. And more FDR’s New Deal in the 1930s addressed a variety of issues in positive ways.  Likewise, the Green New Deal would do that nowadays with special emphasis on benefiting the environment and climate.   I will post information to my blog about creative ways to fund […]

Olympia’s people want to CUT the Pentagon budget and INCREASE funding to serve human and environmental needs!

Twice in late summer 2019 the Olympia Coalition to Abolish Nuclear Weapons organized and staffed information tables at public events. Six jars were labeled with different possible uses for our federal budget. We handed each visitor a stack of ten pennies and invited them to put the pennies into the various jars to show how the visitor would choose to spend the federal budget. The results (listed below) were similar for both events, except “Environment and climate” and “Health care” exchanged places for 1st and 2nd priorities. Facebook supports right-wing extremism, hate groups, etc.
